If all this octane stuff that Mmm Boost says it might be caused by is correct, then check your timing, as lower octane fuel has a higher callorific value and burns faster, therefore you mixture may be combusting too far before 12 degrees after TDC...etc
I highly dought that this is the problem.

Well, checked the TPS.. and it was out a little, but nothing really notable. Adjusted it slightly and took it for another drive.

Problem seems to be getting a lot worse now, happening when cold, all throughout the rec-range. Thought it could be a fuel related issue? Had a quick check and the fuel pump is going and there's pressure in the lines.

Any ideas? Unless someone locally is keen to try and fix it, i'll probabley end up taking it into toyota.

Right... well, i found the problem, and the solution, and in fact it was just a thought that crossed my mind, but the simpliest fix i've ver done

Symptoms: As above
Cause: NO FUEL
Reason: Fuel gauge was stuck/broken

Was laughing all the way home.

(Probabley just got some water in the tank and after leaving it for a while it settled, combined with low fuel was sucking in half/haf..)
