arcing problem

Postby luvnit » Tue Oct 18, 2005 7:27 pm

hey im having a problem with starting my car, it sounds like sumthings not earthed properly, when i turn the key there is a clicking sound comeing from the engine bay. also i cant turn my alarm on anymore so maybe that could have something to do with it, the light in side the car starts to flash, and when i push the button on the remote it just locks the car

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

nah i dont think its a flat battery because the car will start, this just happens occasionally, usually in the worst places like the mcd's drivethrough

Well the way to check the solonoid is get some one to give the starter a slight tap with a hammer, this should engauge it into mesh. This is only if the solonoids shot but being an intermittent fault you may not be able to do this. Dont know about the alarm sorry. Possibly right about it being a bad earth. Check your getting a good neg terminal to chassie connection :)

If its effecting the alarm too, I'd suggest a bad earth near the battery...

Has your alarm got an immobiliser?

Are you sure the alarm isnt playing up therefore not starting properly?
