Megameet '06 - Where?

Postby Gadget » Wed Oct 26, 2005 10:54 am

Well, as the topic says, while MM05 is fresh in people's heads, I thought I'd bring to the table the location of MM06. Ideally this wants to be somewhere Toyspeed people exist already (a significant enough presence to organise such an event) and also be a place people from around the country will be happy to drive to.

Christchurch and Auckland are out - they've had the two most recent ones... Wellington is up again as a major city, but do you people of Toyspeed want it somewhere else?

This by no means has to be decided now, I'm just interested to hear opinions!

Post yours below.

Thanks,
Ben.

I reckon it would be good to hold MM at either Wellington, Taupo, Hamilton areas.

Reason I say that is because it's the Major ones in the North Island where the most are located in those areas. Taupo maybe not so much but they have the track over wich can be used potentially?

Otherwise I'd say Wellington would definately be the go. There's a hell of allot to do down there. There's allot of open fields etc where Grasskhana's can be held and it's Central for most people form NI and SI to travel to.

Wellingtown, Dunedin, or Nelson. I'm sure Warwick would love to have us all :D

im pretty sure taupo is going to be used for trackday this year, so do we need to have a MM there as well?

Yea I just thought of that one aswell. Well maybe track will be at Manfield again? AFAIK people really enjoyed being able to make use of the big track instead of the little one at Taupo all the time?

It's on the board anyway depending on where exactly Trackday will be decided to be held...

Wellington, Taupo, or Dunedin I'd be keen for :D I'd like to make the next one no matter where it is though.

Mmm Taupo... Don't think there's many active TS'ers there for organising, and also bets are the track will be in use Labour weekend anyway, similar to how it was this last one just gone...

I was thinking it would be logical to go back to Wellington, but then Nelson was suggested...

So, keep suggesting!

could always say the mighty naki, but since theres only a very elite few TS'ers that actively do anything here, maybe not :?
mind you with the slack Auckland crew turnout at the Auckland MM, it might not be much different :P

welly or palmy could be cool
i guess al ot of it comes down to whos gunna organise stuff and are they going to do a good job?!?!

Yeah, I was going to say Palmy would be quite good, with Manfeild so close by, and some fairly scenic roads around.
Dont know much else in the way of non car entertainment though :?
I've got no qualms in organising stuff if people want to come here.

Palmy isn't that far out of wellington that you couldn't go there for a day or something?

Palmy I think would be good... back before ChCh megameet Adydas and I started a bit of planning for it and there were some good options. Might be convinced to help of the organisation :)

possibly over masterton ways if people wanted something more scenic, rather than a built up area of a city.
