yeah definitly rust

they're an old car so you would look at everything u usually look at on old cars.. i'm pretty sure theres a post somewhere that outlines everything

however, it has a 4age conversion, so you'l also wanna have a look at the quality of this that has been done, how properly / how rough etc

somewhere to start maybe ?

ye rust is a must to check, rear wheel archs are a good place to check as they normally start to dissolve there.

sounds mean if it already has a 4age but could be worth to check what else has been swapped as there are alot of other differences between AE85 and 86's than just the engine.

check the brakes,
if they are vented on the front then it prob has AE86 front brakes, if they are not vented then they could be the stock 85 ones which may be a bit under rated with the new engine. check the rear brakes, if they are drums then you will have an AE85 rear end which means no lsd and you diff is smaller and weaker than a standard 86 one and again it will be weaker due to a more powerfull engine,

check the gearbox,
if it has a cable clutch still it will probably have a k-50 which is the AE85 gearbox, although this bolts up to a 4age no probs it is alot weaker then the t-50 which is the standard box that comes on the 4age for AE86's. if it has a t50 it will have a hydraulic clutch setup,

fuel tank and pump,
if it has an internal pump it should be a AE86 tank which is also baffled (dunno how well they are baffled thou) and if it has an external pump it could be an AE85 tank which is not baffled.
If you drink, and drift,
your a bloody lunatic
