Tail Light Darkening

Postby pervert » Thu Oct 27, 2005 1:07 pm

I know you can't legally do this, so you don't need to tell me...

Anyway...I usually use proper tint spray from Repco, but I find this only lasts a few months at best before it wears/fades off...are there any other paint-style ideas people have? (I'm NOT using pantyhose... )

I think someone once said they had used a few light coats of matt black paint, anyone tried that with any success?

If you want fella give them to me and I can get mate to spray them with a Tinted Clear Coat.. Good thing bout doing it this way is the Light's still have a shine to them.. He done them to a mate's car and they were pretty sweet and they didn't block out much of the tail light/indicator's..

Yep that was me, looks mint becoz behind the tail lights was a black strip right accross the rear of the car, so it was a full blackout, looked mean and it passes WOFs :? (well its passed 3 so far)
Is that clearcoat tint what your starship has muzz? how much does your mate charge per rear tail light?

Naa that was spray on Light Tint like Perv talking about..
Used Spray on Light Tint on my Bike Brake and Indicator's but when popped my tyre and got rubber everywhere used Prepsol and took the Black off them so getting him to re-do them in the tinted Clear so will let you know a rough price..

I just use the stuff with the white/black label from Repco, can't remember the name...

Thanks Muzz, will keep that in mind...

Might give the old matt black a try, is easy to clean off if it doesn't work... 8)

I'll get some photos up when it's lowered, I'm not taking photos of a standard height DX...

Needs a fair bit of body work, the last owner 'rolled' the guards with pliers for example ( ), so it'll be primer patches for months I'd imagine...but at least it'll be low on 17's...

Did you spray the inside of the light cover?

I just used that liquid shoe polish, suits my car and just adds to it's "im dirty" look. Goes with the dust and dirt on the back if it. :D
