Will be interesting to see how strong the gearboxes in GT-T's are.

Fivebob, I nominate you to try for 11s ;)
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting

Gearboxes are plenty strong enough they're the same as the SW20/ST205, not sure about the spindly axles though.

Hmmm, looks at stroker & turbo kits sitting in my shed, should be good for 5-600HP at the wheels

Apart from lack of time and finances to build the engine(s) right now, I don't really want to put the mega engine in my Caldina just yet, my 71 year old father still drives it around when I'm in Australia, and I don't think he needs 500HP

Anyway my MR2 with full cage is more likely to be the recipient of such an engine, but as I don't see drag racing and an enjoyable pastime it might be some time before I'd even bother to put it down the strip. Besides which, right now I think it's more fun to stir those that live life 1/4 mile at at time

Stock caldina engines wont get you anywhere

Stock engine should be good for 10's if not 9's, but that would require putting the lard-arse chassis on a strict diet.

However, in the dirty south auckland there is a rwd twin turbo lexus v8 caldina that is almooost finished and hopefully going to be a skidfest.

Which should be enough for an 11.

With all that weight in the front and only 2 driven wheels, it will probably struggle to get traction, a properly sorted 3S-GTE should more than give it a run for it's money

there is a fair bit of difference between those 2 cars so its not fair comparrison, ones a GT caldina, with same engine, and ones a caldina with a bloody TWIN TURBO V8 IN IT lol its obvious wat wud hav more power   so why doesnt a caldina stand a chance with wat ever engine comes in it to do a 12 or a 11?

Im not saying a stock engine caldina cant. Just thought the caldina owners might like to see an engineering feat such as this one. Sharing is caring haha

Dont beleive your trap speed of 176kph with the mods you have listed in your profile.

176kph means you have about 400hp in that caldina which means a BIG turbo that you havent listed in ur profile.

I questioned Inane ages ago about his trapspeed and he still has not shown the time slips . And as for witnesses when did humans start being able to determin how fast a vehicle was going.

he does have a timeslip that shows that trap speed. however , i think it was on mastertons old timing system , which was known for popping out the occasional odd number. it pays not to take too much attention until a figure has been backed up. their new system seems to be a lot better.

I changed my vote i think Inane is going to be the first into the 12 second club he obviosly has the power to do so . Shit maybe he is allready doing 12s. Cause the caldina comes with a restrictionless 2 1/2 inch exhaust standard dont you know. And i think the only reason he is only got a 15 sec pass to date is cause he cant get any traction, cause as you know 4wd is shit for traction.

Theres a massive difference between a mid 13 and a high 12, generally its more than just wind some boost into it auw and oooh avgas.

BEfore the night speed i intend on doing full 3inch exhaust, cold air box , new water to air intercooler ,18 psi stripped interior . Iam pretty confident on pulling a high 12 , either this friday or the next as long as the car is ready by then.
