What sensors are these?? (reposted photo)

Postby -MATT- » Tue Nov 01, 2005 3:52 pm

Im considering fitting an intake pipe with POD filter but am wondering if these sensors will have to be reconnected somehow? I know that the AFM sensor is on the otherside but am not sure what (1)and (2) are? Is (2) an air temp sensor or sumthing?
Car is a 1990 Trueno with non TVIS 4age

For a start your car doesnt have a AFM as it has a MAP sensor (1) is a resonator and can be removed.

But I wouldn't if you don't want to loose a bit of lowdown torque for no good reason.

(2) Will be an air temp sensor, good idea to leave that in too.

If you fitting a pod drill a hole in the piping somewhere and insert this sensor (make sure it's sealed and secure) and it'll be fine.

The resonators are for keeping the induction sound down on a car out of the factory, as not all drivers are big bore blaring, turbo spooling, intaking whistling noise machines that we are :)

not all of them though, some of them are for a certain rpm....

well, remove it and see what happens then ;).

haha, i remember a while back, a mate of mine had a mirage (not you vickrin), with a reso on it, he checked it, and found it was "low" on oil *tehehe*, so he filled it right up with oil lol, put it all back together, and away he went.

He seriously thought it was for the valves he told me.... i tryed to tell him it shouldnt be there, but meh, wut can ya do, bit of blue smoke wont kill it....

and hey, then it will look like the rest of the mitsis on the road!

are you sure or are you just guessing? I think the air temp sensor is the little thing you can see in the picture plugged in to the main part of the airbox (little black platic needle thingee)

Opps you could be right, didn't see that at all. But what else plugs into the air box and has a wire coming out?

pretty sure the sensor on the right hand side of the filter box is the MAP sensor .. and (2) is the air temp sensor

The sensor on the right hand side of the box from this angle is the air temp sensor. The MAP (VAC) sensor is behind cylinder 1 and bolts to the firewall.
