I was thinking of doing the same thing, but the scoop would need to be fairly deep (to stop down pours), with water catcher ridges along the bottom to stop drips of water from being pushed back by air resistance, and a custom made vertical panel filter near the back of the scoop to stop dust, bugs etc

You may need a small mesh infront of the filter or double filtered since the air will be getting rammed into it and thus pushing crap right through it.

You sure its N/s?

because look at the bottom left of the corner, looks like the hat of a clutch master cylinder reso.

Also the angle of the throttle cable, if its N/s its comming from completely the wrong direction...

Just wondering :)

Cozmo... who really cares?

The pic came from a site about AE86's so I would assume it was in one... but then again... I posted a pic showing this type of setup, as an example only.... so who really cares which way the engine is facing?

Thats what I was thinking Cozmo.

And if it is east-west, then how the hell is the head on around the wrong way? The trumpets face back towards the windscreen on a standard blacktop ...

Other than that, its a great pic of some individual trumpet filters tho :P

That alone doesn't mean anything, take a look at the throttle cable on eightytrueno's rwd setup that he posted earlier....

You can't see the windscreen though.. what makes you think the head is on the wrong way?

My apologies, I can see its north-south now ... I didn't look at it closely enough and thought on the right of the pic was the black slotted air vent things at the bottom of the windscreen (please forgive my lack of correct terminology). My bad :P

Would be nice to see how that engine performs. Doesn't look like any trumpets on there at all ... just all filter. So does that make it a high end screamer?

I didn't say it was N-S, just pointing out what I picked up in the picture. It could well be E-W, infact I'm almost certain it is but the throttle cable gives no indication. In the top right hand corner it looks like an A/C pipe coming out of the firewall on the left and the emissions canister just next to it. Cozmo might be right about the reso for the master cylinder. Bah, who's getting picky now

Yer, it depends entirely on which direction the pics been taken. After a bit of looking, it could be either or.

*shrug*

Like bad20v said, he only posted it for the pics of the individual filters anyway.

i love being a picky bastard.

Yeh my bad about the the throttle cable, i figured that the qtb single control (what do you call it), lever thing, would have 2 places for it to wind onto (much like 4age single throttle inlet manifolds).

its for 2 throttle cables isnt it? So youd think theyd swap them over to the other side, but, i dont have a 20v, and dont remember much about my old one, so yeh.

Just commenting, not like it matters, still gonna scream, only difference is, a e/w setup 4age, MIGHT have a slightly hotter intake compared to N/S (having the extractors in front of the intake).

But yeh, who cares

Unless you count 7750rpm to 8000rpm torque increases as "performance factor". :D
