Chinese SUV safety

Given the laws in effect right now you could import one of these into NZ. I can't think of a better reason to start enforcing frontal impact standards for SUV's

Come on, it's made in China, what do you expect? Even I don't have faith with them.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Man that is terrible. Look how the head is crushed between the seat and the steering wheel :?
And it look like it is made from cardboard :o

I don't expect much from them, but that's not the point. If these were imported into NZ, provided they make them in RHD, then there is nothing to stop them being complied. They don't need to comply with any frontal impact standards, and people will buy them soley on price, and think they're safe in a big hulking SUV.

Now I have nothing against culling the ranks of the Remuera tractor drivers, but it's not really fair on their innocent passengers, and a complete waste of taxpayers money. Besides which if frontal impact standards are such an issue, why can SUV's be imported without any need to comply to such standards?
