Postby TRDmod » Sun Nov 06, 2005 3:15 pm

Shifting hard, high revs, high speed, .... clunking sound....suspecting diff loose, but got it checked, its secured, could it be diff mount, any ideas?

i mean it doesnt feel unstable, or losing power or transmission, but clunking and not smooth when changing gears fast...any ideas,

Fast selecting wont allow the syncro to bring the gear up to speed, thats why your getting a crunch as Syncro "Dog teeth" arent aligned before engagement.
If its doing it in one gear only it may be a Syncro blocking cone getting worn, but then again slamming it into gear aint gonna let it do its job.
If its selecting fine when cruising then you may have to slow down the old gear selecting a bit, otherwise yeap the trans is going to need attention soon.

Could be wrong 8O

What sort of vehicle is it? If its a FWD/transverse mounted motor, its probably a gearbox mount.

1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
