Bearings... I need bearings.

I need new bottom end bearings for my 3SGE. (Crank + rods)

My question is.... Is there a set of standard sized bearings that I buy, or do I need to check clearances etc?

I doubt I have the tools required to check anything this accurately, a set of digital calipers is the most accurate measuring tool I have.

The engine had nothing wrong with the bottom end when it was stripped down, and the crank is still the standard size.

Lynn was saying I should be able to get the part numbers for the bearings from the bottom of the block, and the crank?

not the part numbers...
but the sizes

the crank and block has number on it
by using the toyota chart u get the size you need.

another way is order a set and rezie journals or caps to suit.

how about some TRD bearings?

I wouldnt really be interested in TRD bearings anyway, whats the point?

Surely standard bearings would suffice.

I'll just go check the block & crank now, see if I can see any numbers of interest.

But seriously... What kind of numbers would I be looking for?

There is an '1100' stamped onto the crank, and there is some writing on it with white pen which I cant really see properly...

On the block, there is a figure 8 stamped inside the block near where the crank goes, like this:



Or am I on the completely wrong track?

The following is for the 3S-GTE but should be the same as the 3S-GE.

Rod bearing mark #'s can be found on the old bearings or on the Rod Cap.


Main Bearing mark #'s need a bit more work if you don't have the old bearings. Ignore the bearing # in the following table as it doesn't make sense. Add the crankshaft and block #'s together to get the bearing #

acl now make a race bearing for the 3sge so try these but other than that you could try King bearings and cdc make them as well but you need a copper lead base hope this helps

I would imagine so.

I'll more than likely just use Toyota bearings anyway.

no only toyota make select fit bearings the others dont

yep fivebob has the right stuff there.....

there is a little more, like a size chart for the mains i can fax you if you want.

the numbering sustem applies only to toyota bearings. ppl like ACL make one size fits all.

personally i think the best way is to measure the crank and block, then work out what bearings you need to give you the desired clearance
