BZR CLUTCH = TRD???

Postby bad20v » Tue Nov 08, 2005 5:30 pm

Ok, some of you might know that I blew my clutch at the MM05, and have had it in the workshop getting fixed. :( The diagnosis is that it has slipped on of the springs from the clutch plate itself and was lodged between the clutch plate and pressure plate. This means that I could not engaged the clutch. :(
The clutch plate and pressure plate have been removed and sent away for testing etc. Both items will proberly be replaced anyway. :D

But the thing that my mechanic, Phill, has picked up is that both of these items have TRD stamped all over them!!!
Does this mean that my clutch has been replaced previously, like has some guy in Japan replaced it before it got to NZ? :)
Or do BZ-R's come out with these TRD clutch's as standard? :?

Also, Phill has told me that there is only one type of replacement for this clutch... another TRD item, or I will have to go with a Brass Button clutch (which I don't really want). He has been quoted $4000 for the TRD clutch kit. 8O (which is apparantly out of stock through the TRD stockists :? ) and $1500 for the Brass button clutch. 8O

Can anyone answer my questions? and/or maybe provide an alternative clutch kit for my BZ-R?

:D

If you don't know someone at BNT then they rape you out of your paycheck whenever they can.

I have been quoted upwards of 700$ for just a replacement OEM clutch plate for my old 1G where I was able to get clutch and pressure plate from Trade Parts for probably around 300$ or less.

He might have been meaning that the Brass Button one was from them, he was kinda busy at the time.

I wonder if they will put a TRD one back in?

How many different replacement clutch's could there be for this model? :(

I think you need to consider another mechanic.
Sergei's correct. It's the same as any other 4AGE FWD clutch.

And, let's face it, Warwick and I are so famous if he doesn't know where to get TRD parts from he's a bit suspect. Well I am anyway!

WE've got a shelf full of TRD clutches. Beautiful they are!

I have the TRD Clutch (bought from TRD & Tom's shop HK), they're approx $650~ for both pressure and clutch plate (Street disc), not the best clutch money can buy to be honest.

So I shouldn't expect more than $1k for both clutch plate and pressure plate, $4k is crazy expensive, you're getting ripped thru your butt.

If your car's almost standard, then a aftermarket clutch is not really needed.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Well I don't really care what kind of clutch they put back in it, I just want my car back on the road. :(

How much can you do a TRD clutch kit for Bruce? :D
