Toms 280T help needed pronto!

Postby Ako » Mon Nov 14, 2005 1:17 pm

Ran out of ideas on where to ask around since these things are so damn rare...

Got a guy who is looking to upgrade the TOMS's branded 550cc injectors in his turbo altezza, the only option found so far which "apparently" will fit is 1000cc blitz injectors. Just a bit large.

Can anyone tell me if the injectors will be the same as per a normal 3S-GTE? Or is there any difference from the altezza injectors/rail and an MR2?

do you know if they're top feed or side feed? Unless they're a bit of an oddball, it should be pretty easy to get replacements for them. If they're side feed then anything that is advertised as being a direct replacement for gen 2 onwards 3sgte's or 2jzgte's should work, with the main issue being making sure you get the right impedance (ie high or low). If they're top feed, and the smaller denso style (which they almost certainly would be), then there should be absolutely heaps of options, pretty much any top feed injectors for japanese cars should work (with plugs + impedance being the main things to check out)

I think if you have a google for injectors + altezza you should get some good info though

what I make out from this page is that they are top feed, high impedance:

If you get time, sure, it'd be a big help!

Currently looks like its going to be going for normal top feed sard 700 -750ish cc injectors, through a ballast resistor... But confirmation would be nice

Actually they are certainly not :P, they are Aizo, Toyota appears to have switched supplier for later models. You might be able to substitute denso's but I'm not sure it would be a good idea as the Aizo nozzle portion is approx 5mm longer.

I have no idea how Tom's manged the fueling in the 280t, but you should bear in mind that the stock system is returnless which may or may not be an issue.

Do you have any theories on why they would use a returnless system?

Becuase if IIRC, you siad earlier that the redtop ran a return, while the Altezza motor didnt?

Seems strange to me.
