whining when boosting

i got a gtz ae92 and put on a 175mm crank pulley and when i got the belt to stop slipping noticed that the car whines when ya boost it. its not a loud whine just a faint one. is this normal?

Yep thats all normal!, SC12 - SC14 blowers are rootes type superchargers. They tend to pulse the air when compressing which makes the whining noise and this is alot more noticeable when they are overdriven. Some Rootes blowers overcame this by sort of screwing the rotors into each other, therefore creating smoother pulsations. The GM 6-71, 8-71 blowers off the old Jimmy's are a good example of this. :lol:

phew coz i thought that my sc might of been on its way out and was stressing because of it.

Just as a matter of interest, what sort of boost are you seeing as I have an AE101 with a 175mm Pulley and Im getting 13psi (Hot Factory Cooler boost that is ) :cry:

Wear and tear will make a differance, but it would be interesting to compare the two as AE92 and AE101 gtzs have differant diameter S/C Pulleys.

Are you still running the factory cooler?

i still got the factory cooler and get 14 when im in 5th gear and punt it. other wise it hangs around 13-13.6 psi
