What should I do with this stuff?

Postby ollieboy » Mon Nov 14, 2005 10:38 pm

Ok, so.

I have these 2 subs in one box but its one big f#%* off box that doesnt fit into my boot very well. Anyway you probably know more about them than I do. They look like this:
[Subs]

What I was wanting to do is get rid of these huge bitches and either put them in two smaller boxes or sell them and buy new ones. I like the sound they produce its just when they are in my boot I cant fit anything else in there.

Also if you think I should get new subs, how much do you think I could sell these subs for on trademe and if anyone would want to build me some new boxes(for payment of course). I would do it myself but I know I would end up with the crappiest job around and I don't want to get that sort of reputation. I just need them to fit as far forward in my boot as they can and I will be happy.

Cheers
Ollie

Also I already have a 150WRMS Kicker amp so if you have any sub reccommendations for that.

And, was also wondering if you connect the subs in parallel would that half the impedence and still put out the same Wattage?

i could build u a custom box like mine for 2 10's for around the $40 mark plus carpeting. leaves a $&#$% load of room in the boot still too :D

ive always connected my subs in parallel, do they work in series too? excuse the dumb question

So you could make me boxes aye? I might need to come down to Ashburton to see you. What sort of subs do you have? Do they make pretty good sound for good price? Yeah, that sounds good lots of room in the boot, I opened it today to put a school bag in and was like "Oh yip, thats great, it doesnt fit."

The parallel thing, Yeah I think they would work in series, it would work like any electrical current I suppose but the second sub along would have less power but in parallel they would both get same amount of power, well thats what I think anyway.

thats what i figured. ive got 2 sony 10s on the way, should be here on friday and will be going in the second they arrive (2 months without subs has been HELL) flick me a txt on 0272548749 so i cn get ur numba and ill get hold of u when im in chch and show ya them - after theyre worn in of course ;). the biggest problem i had with my rex is that i couldnt get my wakeboard in the boot, so this new one is designed for the trueno with maximum space utilisation ;)

it was roughly to the size of my 1600w 12" silver pentagons (e.g holding tape measure near the old box, looking with 1 eye and giving or taking 20mm lol), but after i made it i thought shit this isnt rite cuz it was noticibly smaller. ill find out when i get the specs for the 10s i guess but i cant see it being horrendously far off.

My Biology teacher is from Ashburton, she said she hated living there. And then she moves here, and I mean this place is sh*t, how could it be better than Ashburton?

i live out on lake hood, you kinda get over the fact that ashburton it a hole when you can get out of bed, open the ranch slider to your room, walk a couple of metres to the jetty, jump in the boat and go for a ski

3000cu.cm too small (according to web specs). problem solved by making it 3cm deeper, but this one should be rough enough for me because i really cant be $&#$% remaking it. i was so proud of my one for the 12s in the rex, it fitted the boot beautifully and ended up being about 50cu.cm too big

hiff those subs

Postby duffman!!!!! » Tue Nov 15, 2005 4:51 pm

hiff the subs (ther sh&! as) hif the amp too (thats not 2 bad, just gutless). get some good quality subs and amp (not just power handling). it doesnt matter how loud it is if it sounds crap (ive learnt this the hard way lol). if you have the time and the tools you should make the box your self, and if you want to keep the amp then definatley make the box ported (more bang for buck that way). stick as close to the recommened size for the box as possible. good luck!
