What's happened is that at the end of the half shaft there is a coupling to the transmission that has 6 [8mm allen-key] bolts in it. One of the bolts had come out (that's what fell onto the road). All well and good - I'll go get an allen key tomorrow and tighten up the bolts...
BUT!
The piece of metal is a 50mm-long curved washer/shim that connects two adjacents bolts together (I guess to dissapate forces or something). My piece of metal has broken and I need to get a new one.
Does anyone know what this piece of metal might be called? I'll try upload a photo later on.
