This chassis damage possible to fix? (56k warning, pics)

I recently bought an accident damaged Celica XX. ripped the front end off and am getting new parts for it, but need to know if its worth getting the parts, or if i should just sell the car because its unfixible.

I dont have a hell of a lot of money to throw at it, so any DIY work would be ideal. It doesnt have to be pretty or anything, but it has to be able to get through warrants.

As you can see in the pics, the tip of the chassis rail is bent upwards. Is it possible to fix this (cant just jump on it to bend it back... its chassis, so strong) at all, or am i better off selling for parts?

The end of the rail in this pic should be 90 degrees (sitting straight out from it) to the white part it attaches to.



and in this pic, the big black bumper support should be level, and obviously its higher up on the drivers side because of the bent rail.


So, what im asking really, is is it fixable or is it just sitting ready to part out?

Anything is fixable if you throw enough money at it, if thats the only damage and if can be bent back in to shape I would say it would cost around $300 or maybe be more.

is it still rego'ed or dead?

if its dead then you will be facing headache after headache to make it legal...

if its still got live rego then shouldnt be too bad to fix...

Ive just finished fixing a similar promlem on my new Legacy. It involve a Ford Courier, a Chain and someone to press the brake pedal.

My back yard is at two levels so that helped as far as pulling the rail downwards goes.

Rough but effective.

it still has rego, so thats not a problem. i dont think i can get enough people on it to make it bent under the weight, so i need more ideas

how did you yank it down instead of just forward?

Have you been to a panelbeaters to get a quote?

If you're bent (haha, a pun!) on doing it yourself, this is what I'd do, I've used this method before with reasonable success.



I used a hollow square pole, about 6mm wall thickness. Worked good, still had to beat it a bit when I'd finished, to tidy it up, maybe a wee bit of bog, coat of paint.. But basically, you're using the jack to raise the car past the level of the pole, which bends it down.
