Seats into a TE71

Postby fuel » Sun Nov 20, 2005 11:14 pm

I'm just wondering, what seats can I bolt into my TE71 Corolla? I don't want to mess around with fabricating custom mounts - so just wanting to know if say AE82 or AE92 FX-GT/Levin/Trueno etc seats will bolt into my TE71.

Someone told me the TE71 shares the same floorplan as the AE85/AE86 - is this true? If that's the case then what seats have been put into an 85/86 with ease?

Cheers.

I think MR2 seats should fit with out too much trouble, you might have to re-drill it abit or some thing, but relitively easy compared to changing rails and stuff :)

It should be the same floorplan as a KE70/AE86 etc.

SW20 MR2 seats fit, but they are NOT direct bolt in like people may say. The inside rails need the ends cut off, and re-welded on, at a slightly different angle.

I couldn't find anything that would bolt it, most nice seats are from FWD's, and they don't allow for the transmission tunnel, so don't bolt in... 8)

Gutted. What about the older 80s Celica Supras?

It will be hard trying to find some decent AE86 seats for a good price.

The MR2 ones are good seats, if you know anyone with a welder and an angle grinder, they could do it, it's real basic stuff...

Get a measuring tape, and measure the distances between the mounting points, then go to a wrecker, they usually have a room full of seats. Just measure them up, and try and get something that is real close.
