Chrome bumpers and 4K's

I've been saving up for awhile now for some parts for the R34, but instead i've thought about buying an old school car for a project, like KE70 or something similar.
I wana get down and dirty and atually work on a car, restore it, etc,

What would you guys reccomend? I like SR Coupe's, but I hear they're expensive X_x

if i had to choose, i'd get a ke25
chicken fillet and bacon with everything except onion and bbq, ranch and southwest sauces

Yeah the KE's can be expensive but like all things it depends on current condition, the trick is to be in the right place at the right time and be prepared to wait a while.

For me I wanted one that already had the 4AGE in there as I had already worked on the K series, which resulted in quite a long wait.

Just keep an eye out, do a little digging and you never know what you will uncover :wink:

KE30 or below or Starlet, im not much of a fan of KE70's. I know of a certed 4age ke25 for sale for very cheap ($2000) If I was staying in NZ it would be mine :P

KP61 Starlet....

Primarily because A) I own one, B) they're bucketloads of fun, C) piss easy to work on etc.

Rust is the main enemy you'll probably find, much like any 70s/ear'y 80s Jap car.

Get a KE70, unlike the other KE series cars, they are still going for a half-reasonable price, but I wouldn't expect that to last...so if you pick one up now, you MIGHT even make some $$$ on it long-term... :lol:

They've at least got a bit of space compared to the wee starlets and KE30's etc, and they just look so much tougher... 8)

I got my '76 sr coupe for $100 8) But I was in the right place at the right time. :D Well actually my old man was. It had no rust either, all it needed was a motor and paint. :) reg on hold. But if you wait long enough an sr will come up at a good price

old school...KE70? naaaaaaaa :P they're like 80's modern stuff

Get a Vauxhall man, I've owned two of them now. Very easy to work on and DIRT cheap. I had a viva magum and a chevette. Both sitting on fat wheels and they look awesome, and its something different to all these old corollas (not that theres anything wrong with the old KE series, i love them!)

Basicly the right place at the right time is the trick to scoring these old skooler KE-series cars.
Ive had a number of KE30's, KE35's, KE36, and a lovely KE25.
The car you should look out for is the SR coupe ither a KE25 or KE35.
Check for rust in the lower of the doors, front guards, boot well, floor pan...
Just wait awhile and something will come up, dont jump into the 1st rust bucket that comes along, there will be plenty more along the way!!!

KE70's have a very bad rust problem.
KE-Corolla's for life!!!

Yup ive had a few and they have had some good rust in them.... algud tho Im not much of a fan of a KE70 now.

30's and 35's are probably the best for rust out of all the ke's. Because they were rustproofed thoroughly from the factory. Most 30 and 35's were assembled in NZ. I think even all the NZ new ones were. 8)

Most models had the option of being rust proofed. Its call Gold Seal I think. If you want a classic sorta corolla dont even bother with a KE70, theyre sort of stuck in a mid 80's rutt along with sigma's etc, not worth restoring. Go with something older, Either KE3X or KE2X, KE10's are getting a bit rare to find parts for etc. A TE27 replica would be cool to build up.
Or think outside the box and track down a rarer model of classic toyota, something out of the Crown range, maybe a crown coupe?

$&#$% ke70's. Too common, overrated. I think I have seen one (blue 4agte) that I though looked ok. But hey if thats you bag...

I prefer the really old rolla's like ke25's etc and the old crowns etc.

Dont mind kp's although I think they are a bit overated too. Bug eyes look quite cool, dont mind the slant fronts either.
