Glanza V Brake rotors

Postby Old Wolf » Mon Nov 21, 2005 2:04 pm

I have a Starlet Glanza V (ep91 chassis, 4efte turbo engine).

The brake rotors were worn so I got some new ones from a parts shop. All seemed good for 6 months, until now my brakes suddenly start making a horrible noise and I discover that the rotors were the wrong ones (too small), and the pads were not fully contacting the rotor and the rotor has eaten a huge groove in the pads.

Can anyone tell me the correct spec (diameter & thickness) for the rotors so I can avoid this happening again, and also, if they are in stock anywhere in NZ ?

I am quickly developing a big distrust for telling a parts shop what car I have and trusting that I get the right part (eg. last time I asked for a brake MC piston from BNT, they gave me the wrong one; that could have been disastrous if I'd actually installed it and tried to use it).

I have had one workshop suggest on the phone that the right rotors for this car are not even available in NZ and they had to import them from Japan last time someone with the same car needed new rotors.
