Rally Mudflaps? Where do you get them?

Need some mudflaps for my gravel/grass/cowpoo basher, Any idea where to get them, and how much they are likely to cost?

Preferably red or black, and preferably not too costly, i'm not running a WRC budget

on my mates rally car he just gets the rubber sort of stuff and cuts it out and screws it on

Haha, saw that at Taihape rally a few years back. Some dude in an Escort backing up the kerb to make it easier to service, couldn't hear me yelling at him above the exhaust. Wheel rolls over mudflap while car moving back, rriippp. A real bastard too, in theory you shouldn't be allowed to continue without mudflaps on the car.

yep, not allowed to leave service without mudflaps. so drills rivet guns and race tape are always close at hand!

Unless you like making mudflaps (it's a prick of a job) use the correct material.
Pop out to Racetech in Petone. They have a wide range of colours in stock.
And take some time to work out how to mount them securely. There's nothing more annoying than loosing the damn things after you've spent hours making them.

As purple_beasty & Warwick have said, you need these on the car as you leave each service park so it's a good idea to make a spare set, or at least rears. You should have enough in one sheet to do this.

Read the rules and don't make them any bigger than you have to.

Mudflaps drove me nuts when I was mucking about on a friends rally car. Probably one of the most frustrating jobs I ever did. Now each mudflap has about 17 rivets and ten cable ties per side. Grrrr

We've always tended to loose rears no matter which wheels are driven.
The fronts can usually be bolted securely to the wheel arch but the rears often have only the bumper to hang on to.

Do you have a template of some sort for an Ae92? I was just gonna make some templates out of cardboard first, and put chain on the back to stop the flaps from going under the wheels

I've been involved with making and fitting them on group N wrc cars and the proper stuff they use is stupidly expensive for the size of sheet you get. Make sure you template up properly because its not the sort of stuff you really want to be making a booboo with and throwing away
