night drags

Postby bogan89 » Thu Nov 24, 2005 10:18 pm

these r on friday 9th december will post times when i get them

Update edit:

gates open 5pm, scruteneering untill 6.45pm.
$10 gate fee
$20 street cars + $15 day affiliation.

there is also a, night speed drag wars southern front, event on 27th dec.
this will be run in a similer fashion to the champion dragway events.
the time and cost is yet to be anounced, but ill update when i know (unless someone else finds out 1st).

it would be good to see a good toyota turnout.
theres alot of fun to be had, when speed and burnouts are incouraged, even if your only running 15/16's
no one suspects the quiet ones

You dont sign up. Just show up on the night, pay around $60 all up to race, have a WOF, rego and helmet (and long pants + top... oh and shoes!) and you're away.

Same as every other race meeting....

This will be the second track day at levels this year compared to a drag event almost every month at ruapuna. You get a few timed 1/4 passes at the track day and the cost is about the same. However, after going for a blat round a track there's no comparison.

Bear in mind, its a big VR4 he has... And the timing at levels is a bit "creative" when it comes to wanting a 1/4 mile time.

By all means I'd love to do a track day, but there's a lot more risk involved, specially for someone still getting used to the car after just buying it.

True, but he was wanting to go round the track. I was just pointing out there is a drag event at ruapuna almost every month as apposed to a track day twice a year.

i wouldn't say we are creative with times, more to do with people's misinterpretation of them and the location.
if you decide to have your car pointing 5-10 degrees off straight, then launch on an unprepared surface, your time will be shite. hence the reason why most guys are 2-3 seconds slower down here.

i personally believe running 1/4 miles at Levels is a complete joke and a waste of time and resources, we all know an ET on the back straight is more of an estimated time than an elapsed time. with the fact that Ruapuna have drags as often as they do, i believe the track day would be better as just that a track day, not straight line day.

JT wrote "This will be the second track day at levels this year "
no it is actually the fourth time this year road cars could play on the track, we also hold 2 autocross type sprints. to do all four you NEED a membership and a licence (about $100 for a year), this would also enable you to enter Ashburton and Christchurch events of a similar type.
