not to mention that they probably didn't sell quite as many Leones as toyota did Celicas... just guessing though. and rare-er cars no matter how lame still cost a packet for parts.

i have yet to come across one that is $200.. let alone more than...

go price a subaru for a cambelt change... say a wrx. then price the equivalent bits for say... a 3sgte sw20.
or how abotu water pumps? or shocks? hmmm what about clutch kits?

fact is toyota is just about the cheapest for OEM parts.....
I work at a general mechanical work shop and when ever i have rung toyota reguarding intake pipes ( e.g 2LT 100mm corigated rubber pipe between airbox and pipe that leads to turbo), $268+ . And lol at the SW20 cam belt job, thats probly the worst example, i know from experiance that WRX would be easyer, probly end up similar $$$ all up tho. I think i came across wrong, im well aware that subarus arnt all that, just saying toyota isnt the be all and end all, but must be noted they are the best japanese car maker

P.S Pre 89 subarus are utter rubbish, instead of just rubbish

the retail on that part (17881-54340) from a 2lt ln130 surf is $151.79
i think you need to be asking whoever you spoke to some questions!!

the point that i was trying to make is that for common service parts toyota is the cheapest..... if you want a real fright price up V6 mitsi cambelt parts 8O

dude, it was my first car, cost me $750...

go find me a wrx for $750 in good nick with about 170,000km's on it.

we stick with toyota for a reason, theres more than 1 engine ;). more than 1 drivetrain, more than 1 CAR.

the price on genuine subaru parts arn't a hell of a lot more expensive than toyota parts. not that you can really compare prices anyway cos to be completly honest the parts are so different. A cambelt repalcement on a wrx (cambelt only) would should set you back by around 250-300 bucks.
But im cheaper as i only need around 1/2 an hour to change a subie cambelt so make it 160. :D
But from what i remember in one of the last trade brouchers new subie shocks are 150, genuine. Not including sti, bilstein etc.

Oh yeh, mitsi and honda cambelts are fairly dear, try around 180 just for a belt for a mivec v6

Add another 0 and it is becoming a hell of a lot easier... the wrecker down the road(also car sales) has three, one for 6500, one at 7200 and one at 9500.

The 6500 one is a bit weird when you dump the clutch, it kinda slips, but it isn't a usual lip feeling, I wouldn't touch it.
The 7200 one is nice, but needs a re-spray over half of the car(stone chips, so probably thrashed), the 9500 one is mint, well, very tidy anyway :)
