AE82 FXGT heater question

Postby crispy'86 » Mon Nov 28, 2005 12:44 pm

I as swapping the heatewr cores over yesterday and there's what looks like a vacuunm unit which has something to do with the heater by look of it. Vacuum hose goes into engine bay, probably somewhere onto intake manifold. Unit inside car looks like it goes near heater unit somewhere to control something related. Any ideas?? It's got one vacuum line going onto a solenoid and joins up and plugs into the loom for the heater. I'll try and get some pictures up. I'm thinking as it's in my race car i probebly don't really need it there. Anyone have any ideas??? It's quite large round canister where the line goes in,

The servo is used to open/close something like a duct flap or heater control valve (Tap), If the vacuum hose from the servo leads to a solenoid it is switch operated and not cable controlled.

I had a look at the heater tap on Sunday and came to the conclusion it was a solenoid. I'm just going to convert the heater assembly to a basic heater tap now. Less hassle and easier to repair/ replace if something should go wrong further down the track
