Do all places that issue WOFs have to update the LTSA records with the new warrant date?

.. Is a WOF not valid if it doesnt show up when I do a Motochek?

Theyre all provided with VPN access to a system which update the WOF Database live. Entries usually go in same-day.
Only reason this wouldnt happen is if the system is down, which isnt very often.

bollocks! goes down all the time, or that could just be our super duper in house system

we have had quite a few issues with it kicking us out if not used for a certain time, then refusing to log back in. my desk is about 3 meters away from it and i often here the mechs venting expletives at it. its quite good, i learn some good ones! :lol:

The reason I ask is that the previous owner of the car I am buying says it got a WOF very recently... motochek says it's almost due for a WOF

It's easy enough to get a full check done on the car.

I think AA do it down here, but i got one done up north through a mate.

All i needed was to give her the licence plate number and she checked WOF, rego and everything right up to the day it was imported into NZ

Ignore what the owner says.

1) Check the WOF Sticker

2) Check with LTSA/AA/Someone who checks the electronic records.

In the end the two of those determine the story, as opposed to someones word. Especially 2) as thats the records that Police (etc) will be looking at.

Make sure you get the car put through pre-purchase inspection and make sure the WOF is less than a month old when you buy the car, those are reasonable things to do...

What I'm saying is that I have checked the electronic records held by LTSA and they differ from what the seller was telling me. I'll have a look at the sticker this weekend to confirm what that says.

I think my question has been answered above.... All WOF inspectors must update LTSAs electronic records when they issue a WOF no matter whether they are a mechanic working out of their shed or VTNZ.

No offence to the mech's you work with, but of the dozens of calls I got from mechanics in the time I worked with users of that particular VPN, I think the VPN itself was at fault maybe 5% of the time :lol:

Its *supposed* to time them out after a certain time period. Its called VPN security

yes a lot of the issues are the mechs themselves... but recently we'v had a few cases where it refuses to log back in.
and we all know its always the computers fault

if u're buying that car, i would suggest u make sure the paperwork has been done properly as mistake can happen

like mine, where on the wof sheet all the details was correct until a closer check shows it was registered under holden instead of Toyota car - very dodgy.
