Don't go to the shock shop off lincoln road...

Postby darkmyst » Fri Dec 02, 2005 3:37 pm

You will now know why I have chopped the springs to my rolla

I ordered... KE70 Lowering springs.... at the shock shop

I wanted it to be lowered by... 50mm at least...

So they ordered some in, $200, sweet as... A bit dare but hey, I just wanted to lower my car and I wanted to have good brand new ones...

So, three days passed, and we got our springs, now heres when the stress begins, we put the springs on the car, had it jacked up, it didn't look much lower, jacked it down, and it was the same as before, this is when I got really pissed, went back to the shitty shock shop in henderson and complained, they said they were lowering springs not "Remain-the-same height springs" so, for an extra $40 they ordered new springs, we waited... 5 days and we got our springs, not only looking the same as the previous ones but even bigger, so we had to remove everything again, de ja vu really, took $&#$% ages to do the process again, and we put the springs on, put the jack down... AND F... U... C.... K....

The car was not low
The car was not how it was before
THe car was $&#$% HIGHER then before, thats right... They gave us friggin Higher-ing springs...

BASTARDS...

So, that night, me and my dad got the stock springs, and cut them, we were sick to death of waiting plus we have a spare set of springs... we went back to the shock shop adn they said they'd give us new springs that would lower our car... So here they are, 2 months after they said that... I got the new springs, NOW I'm not gonna bother putting them on again unless one of you can please tell me from looking at them, will it lower my KE70, if so... how much?

The first pic, it sits even lower than that, its that high up at the moment cause the whole interior and doors have been taken out.. It'd sit about an inch lower, maybe 1.5

Only thing I had!! *shrugs*

I looked in the fridge but there wasn't really anything good that everyone would be able to compare it to, so I got your average sized toilet roll...

So do you know if that would lower my car? Its about 2 and a half toilet rolls big and its pretty stiff.

Normally with new springs you don't see the result immediately....you drive it around for a couple of days untill the springs start settling and then you will see the difference from your stock springs...

yeah most mondern springs take ages to settle but still wont have the desired amount of lowering.

Get them compressed with shortened shocks and dump it. Ive also found with most lowering springs available for a cheaper price arent really lowering springs they just have a heavier spring rate really.

so yeah

They first gave me FXGT springs for my KE70...

Niether FXGT nor KE70 are that rare models...

My dad didn't even put those on cause he knew they weren't the right size.

$&#$% that, you should have just rung Chamberlains in Christchurch (who make Cobra springs) and given them dimensions. Would have cost about $240, but would be guaranteed to sit where you want them to.

A rear muffler will help, but unless its not a 4k anymore, use 1.75" exhaust, with a couple of long coby's in it and the rear muffler. Will be pretty nice then, without losing too much low end torque.
