4AGE > 4AGZE part differences and questions

Postby Caveman » Wed Nov 30, 2005 10:33 pm

Ok just a few small questions on the differences between 4age and 4agze.

1) Does the 4AGZE use a difference cam angle sensor? I know its a different part number but XS1V told me hes seen a 4age working with coil packs but still had the distributor, ie N/A 4age cam angle sensor (just no leads going into it).

2) Are O2 sensors generic across most models, ie will my O2 sensor from a N/A 4age work with the 4AGZE loom?

3) How does the 4AGZE control idle?

i can defintely answer one question, and try the other two.

1, all 4age 16v use dizzy, the one xsiv saw would have had aftermarket comp ie link, most people use the dizzy as a c/a sensor, then hook up to coil packs via comp, then thats how the spark is produced.

which model 4agze? im not sure on the cam angle sensor, but im pretty sure theyre completely different. ie not a dizzy.

2, meh, but tending towards yes

3, the comp does its funny little things, runs richer when cold, till temp reaches x degrees, then runs normal, I THINK

yeah thats no help but im bored waiting to go to the CASINO WOOT

The bigport engines dont have the trigger set needed to run "DLI" apparently the redtop smallport does, however I run a ZE DLI cam angle sensor, wasted spark with a dual channel B and A ignitions ignitor and Subaru WRX coilpacks.

Why dont you post exactly what you are attempting to achieve. From the looks of it you are attempting to use a ZE ECU with a NA engine?
The answer is Helmholtz!

That is correct. I have all the part I need now

- coils
- 2bar map sensor
- injectors, rail, fpr
- loom
- ecu
- all random ignitors, relays, etc

I was going to try and use the cam angle sensor already on my N/A 4AGE small port, if it doesnt work I can 'borrow' my brothers one off his project :D Will post up results, just wanna know if anyone knows already.

With the idle control I want to know what part controls this i.e. some sort of vsv?

there's an idle speed control stepper motor on the throttle body, similar to most 90's toyotas. I think early 4age's had this separate from the TB
