Want a nice cheap soarer?

Postby V8MOFO » Sun Dec 04, 2005 5:15 am

Just spotted this, seems to good to be true.
$5200 asking price for a V8 soarer. 160,000km
Look like 17" wheels.

it does seem really cheap - especially as its a dealer selling it.

makes you wonder if there's something wrong with it or something?

This is probably really off topic but

my mum bourght a mondeo from trademe that cheap and there was sludge in the engine and everything... I think those cars are only meant to last like... 5000-10000 k's then they just die... same thing goes with the soarer, but it might be sweet? I can't tell by just looking at the pictures.. it is a 1991 automatic so yeah..

I almost bought one of them about 6 months ago, instead I bought a levin :| Dont no why. It had real nice 19's on it to. I think it was $7k

But how good are the toyota v8's on fuel?

Like how many litres to every 100km?

Also are they all auto?

Compared to what??
vhpacer wrote:Like how many litres to every 100km?

I get about 500-600km out of a tank (78L) but I'm reasonably heavy footed :)
vhpacer wrote:Also are they all auto?

Yes

But the market for them is pretty much dead at the moment, with current fuel prices and them being deemed as old cars (Most of the V8's are 91 models) especially since most of them are coming up to their second 100k service and also require bushes and shocks replacing etc

yeah i have heard that something like 5% of the production run was manual, but not many made it over here. I'm not sure if any of the v8's were though.

I've seen a couple around but have never been sure if they were original or had been converted.

Oh yeah, I didn't think about that, I believe only the v6s were brought out in manual.

As vhpacer was asking about the V8 I assumed he was asking purely about that, as Revhead said, all the V8's were auto, the 6's were available in either, although finding a factory manual is rare, but conversion isn't hard.

I once heard from a friend of a friend of an ex-girlfriends mother who I met once at a family reunion that soarers are guaranteed for *dr evil voice* 1 million kilometres.

But yea, all V8 soarerers are auto. As are the 3.0GT ( non turbo inline 6 ) 5% of the TT were in factory manual.

Anyway someone buy it, so this thread has a purpose
