Spray guns and Compressors

Postby no_8wire » Tue Dec 06, 2005 6:09 pm

Im looking to get my own spray equipment and was wondering what sort of rating/ specs the compressor should have.

I am going to be using it mostly for paint&panel work

Any body know what I would need? pressure wise and stuff?

Cheers

buy the biggest quality unit you can run on single phase. you won't regret it.the bigger the pump, the more free air you get, and the less the pump work, the less heat meaning less moisture. to spray you need 20-50PSI, but die grinders,D/A sanders etc need 80+psi to operate.

i have an Ingersoll Rand 16cfm, ( i think they now do an 18cfm unit) and it cost me $1400, but they are much cheaper now. whatever brand you buy ,make sure there is a decent warrenty on the pump and preferably be of a known brand. the motor and resivour aren't so important as the pump.
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

f#@k you i won't do what ya tell me

The bigger the tank the better. Cos you dont want to stop all the time painting a car. You would want at least a 50l+ tank. You need about 50 psi usually for both suction and gravity fed guns. :D
