why do people insist on using stupidly large intercoolers!
your motors a 1.6L FFS!

why not?(serious question).

basically: bigger intercooler = more area to fill with compressed air = more lag
another reason why you dont use 3" pipe for I/C applications (unless you have a seriously big motor/turbo(s) combination)

considering even a 450x300x76 is on the large size for my caldina (2L)

I figured that lag would come into it, yay, I'm learning. so if lags not an issue(boost at 2000RPM) then a bigger one would just cool it better and take the lag out a bit?

nope, cuase the air still has to fill the whole IC and then get pack up to boost pressure, ie get from atmospheric pressure (0psi on boost guage) to positive pressure, remembering that the motor is constantly sucking air

a bigger IC means the compressor (turbo) has to work harder (longer) to get the same pressure in the system.
by running large diameter and/or long length pipework, this also increases the area that the turbo has to fill with air (ie more area to fill = more lag as the turbo cant keep up)

bends can also increase lag - this is due to air velocities etc

every time the BOV opens, the pressure inside the IC + pipework is released and goes back to 0psi on a boost guage

Turboing your 20v..... DONT BOTHER TURBOING ON STOCK ECU OR INTERNALS!!!!

Rebuild using forged internals (pistons & rods)
custom intake plenium
bov
intercooler (front mount)
custom manifold
turbo (tdo4-5)
Custom sump for oil return
make a t joint off the oil sender for oil feed
Link ecu or different (tuned)

It will work on the standard injectors, mine was producing around 14-18psi on the standard injectors, was tunned to max out at 7000rpm.

Just do it right the 1st time!!!

Theres bound to be more stuff you can do.....

evo intercoolers are freely available and more than adequate for a 4agte setup.

matt recomendign low comp :O what is the world comming too!

run 8.9:1 pistons, with a good af ratio, like just under 12 all the way, and youll be mint, Search club 4ag too, theyre real good, theres a guy running 650+ hp in a 4age with 8.7:1 comp ratio, only prob is the bores keep splitting...... bugger

i think you'll find it was 492wrhp @25psi, and his best power band was between 6500 and 11000 rpm, but his block split from top to bottom in number 1cyl, and has run 30psi,

he is HOPING to break 600hp one day, but that will likely be with sleeved block. unless we aren't talking about the same one, your full of shite
