Anyone dynoed their 3sge before?

Postby RomanV » Thu Dec 08, 2005 1:42 pm

So, as per the title, has anyone dynoed their 3sge before?
Standard or otherwise?
Im interested to know what they really put out, we all know what toyota engine stats are like.

I was planning on getting mine dynoed before I swapped engines, but my car carked it before I had a chance.

Has anyone dynoed a Gen 2 or Gen 3?

I know that celicaRA45 and Dodgy are making some impressive numbers, but their engines are hardly standard. 8)

Thanks. 8)

Yeah Ive seen that before, not a bad effort for the modifications!

He never used the stock manifolds etc though IIRC.

Im curious as to what a stock(ish) motor will put out.

What do you mean?

Does an SC aw11 make more than that? (or are they easily capable of that with pulley kit etc?)

Might want to take into account that Karl's setup was in an FR, and would have more drivetrain power loss than an MR.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Yes but Im sure that the quad throttles and megasquirt (among otherthings) more than make up for that. :)

mr2siks (now mine) aw11 made 104.5kw @ the rears on stock everything bar k&n filter in stock box and different muffler (about 2kw short of factory @ flywheel)

and a 2litre n/a is making a good 20kw less than it should be :D

WTF?

156hp * .85 = 132hp = 98 kilowatts.

How do you figure it should be making an extra 20kw again?

http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/63/ 121.36kw

see this is where you go, THATS AT THE FLYWHEEL DIPSHIT

and this is when i go yes, i know, but the little aw made 104.5... stock being 107kw... so um... shouldnt it be making like, 70kw @ the wheels going off those figures :D

yup, just stirring.

odd isnt it, toyotas boosted engines usuaully reach their "quoted" figure... (3sgte for example, most guys hit the 180+kw mark, when stock is 180kw (at the flywheel)), same with supras... (well, late model items it seems)

hmm.... however thers alot to take into consideration and at 100-120kw, does it really matter... :-/

Not its not.
And there's no need for that language, little boy.
Gen 2 3sge is sometime quoted as 156hp.
However I will give you the benefit of the doubt anyway.
(Why do I bother trying to talk sense into Cozmo? *stabs self in the face*)

Assuming it makes 165 instead of the 156hp (which is quoted as the gen 2 3sge power figure elsewhere)
It will make the following:

(I'll break it down for you, nice and slow, since Im nice. )

165 horespower, times 0.85 (15% tranny loss) x 0.745 (conversion factor to KW) equals..... Wow! 105kw! Which is exactly what he made!
Amazing.

So again... wheres this extra 20kw you're on about?

And whats this talk of all toyotas making less HP than they shoud?
That honour seems to be reserved for 4ages only. :P

the bold bit ;) Why dont 3sgte powered mr2's loose that 15%? (ct20... the ct26 alone will loose hp than whats stated lol)

just the tranny loss bit im getting at.

meh, maybe my tranny is so wicked sick, theres no loss at all!

just calm down, people get to excited on these boards sometimes :P.

and hey, only some 4age's ;) of the 20v nature.

Well it makes sense that a supercharged engine should make about the same as an NA motor that is 20% bigger...

Id be worried if it didnt. :P
