ke30 upgrade

Postby Go_the_mini » Wed Dec 07, 2005 3:44 pm

hay im sure this question comes up all the time but Im now ready to start looking at upgrading the 4k, i would prefer to go newer the the 3tge so im looking at a 4age or 4 agze but Im interested in turbo charging it. I was told its alot easyier to convert a ze however they tend to be alot more exspensive and a freind of mine is selling a worked 4age cheap. how much more work would I need to do to just turbo a 4age?

Sorry to be rude but your question doesnt relly make sense

A "worked" 4age would probably be quicker than a standard ze anyway.

When I get some money  Im going to have a 20v with open trumpets in my sr. Holy crap they sound good :D

and ull make less power than a ze :D, of course, if you got the correct trumpets, then cams, ecu, yada yada, youd be quicker..

could always get a pully kit for the ze and make it even... then the turbo comes into the equasion, and the na will start to lack.

yes, the ge n/a is an amzing engine, but you look at some turbo ze guys on here! i wouldnt be suprised if they would easily beat a similar vehicle on a race track with their engines over a formula atlantic 4age! (240hp?)

sounds cool.. but for the price eh... not so cool.

How do you figure that?

Set of pistons is the main difference, except you need to remove all the Z gear and get a new inlet manifold and pay a hell of a lot more to get the ZE in the first place.

the FAR part may have been taken the wrong way :p

opening the engine costs money... and alot of people cant do it themselves

chuck another $1000on for a rebiuld, when you add that on to everything else, it getes very expensive. then another 1k for ecu... and actually buying the damn new pistons bla bla, in short, ze = easier. (which is why more ze's get turboed than guys with 4age's swapping ze bits in and turboing them)

Depends on the 4AGE you start with. If you're going for the older engines with lower compression then it'll be easier to run a little boost without blowing it up. 4AGZE would be ideal due to the already low compression pistons which are really what you want if you're going to be going forced induction.

If you're looking at turbo-ing a work 4AGE thats currently N/A then (depending on what you mean by worked) chances are its got reasonably high compression and cams which are terrible for boost purposes (again, depending on what worked means in this case).
