Has anyone got some pictures of knock damage in a 3sge or blacktop 20v?

Not a bad effort for an NA.
Notice the large chunk of the ringland that is missing in the foreground.
Im not sure what exactly someone was doing to this engine, I would imagine it was courtesy of some very high RPM leaning out.

is that from your new motor?

It sure is. My new pistons look a lot nicer however. :)

what was the head like?

Definitely not as bad as the piston!
There is still some pitting on the surface of the head, but I had Lynn completely strip the head down, check everything for damage, machine the face of the head, etc. etc.

So its fine now. 8)

The head still looks a bit damaged in that cylinder, but I have Lynns assurance that it is only aesthetic, and very minor. He said that they could weld in some metal and grind it flush if I insisted, but there would be no point.

I dont have any pics of the head at the moment, but can take some when I get home if you are interested.

Looks like there was a pachinko machine in your engine :D
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Impossible to say.

I wasnt the one that blew it up. :)

However I can tell you that it was running the standard ECU, with an HKS fuel computer spliced in.

are you sure it wasnt turboed, hence the high compression with alot of boost? thats what it looks like otherwise i dont see how an NA could $&#$% those pistons that badly. ive crack pistons on factory turbo engines and only the ring lands usualy go but they dont look as bad as those.

im sure if you sat her at 8000odd rpm, then quickly used a fuel comp (as it was equiped with) to turn the af up (leaner), youd manage some serious damage....
