Loose air con pulley bearing -> power steering belt hops

My Levin just had its power steering belt replaced yesterday. I picked it up late from workshop and didn't get a chance to speak to the mechanic.

The power steering belt jumped off on the way back home. I tried to put it back on, but it was a rather useless attempt of desperation, needless to say.

Anyway, i left it till today as i was tired, rang up and got told that my Air con pulley bearing is too loose and i have to urgently replace it. That's why the belt hopped off so easily.

The workshop can't get that done. Any idea on how much it would be to get that fixed (i don't want to bother revhead straight away) and how to go about it? Also, which pulley is the aircon pulley, would that be the smaller one of the 4 at the bottom?

Any help appriciated

except nothing came off, the air con pulley is just loose. How do i go about getting the pulley and putting it in? Sucks having to let the car sit in the driveway..

if it is arcon pulley as you say, it is not hard to replace bearing, there is a 10mm nut holding aircon clutch, then there will be a circlip holding pulley, and as far as I remember the pulley should come right off... when you get the bearing get C3 type (not cheap)...

but if you are talking about ps/ac belt tensioner, to tighten that you'll have to undo centre 14mm nut, turn a few turns counter-clockwise bolt on the top of it (this should lower tensioner to allow you to install the belt), install the belt, finger tighten centre 14mm nut, and turn clockwise the top bolt to raise the pulley (this will tighten the belt), make sure not to overthighten the belt, when belt is tight it is still possible to twist it 90 degrees with fingers, when you finished tightening the belt, thighten the centre 14mm nut (very tight).

Mine has same problem, except that instead of loosing the belt it shredded the little bugger ($35 from Ripco) . I have a spare complete AC compressor at the workshop if you are after one Misha. Can probably get it down to you for next to nothing if you aren't in a hurry.

And quit whinging about the hassles of parking, its a good way to tone those shoulders and arms

I'm taking it to HRT's tomorrow to get the VVT pulley put in, and he said he'll take a look at what's wrong with it exactly

Thanks for the replies, i guess i wasn't specific enough (i could only be as specific as the mechanic that got it fixed.. or stuffed, should i say), as i'm still learning about the costly world of cars
