Fixing crash damage

Postby supraman_nz » Sat Dec 17, 2005 5:18 pm

Hi ,
not sure if this should go in tech section or here but
I might have the oppertunity to purchase a 2001 celica that has been involved in a frontal crash ( not 100% sure on how bad it was but at the moment all i know is that it is still drivable)
what i wanted to know is what sort of things would make it un repairable?
depending on how bad it is might only a bonnet new front bumper and headlights need replacing?

thanks in advance

nothing will make it unrepairable, however some damage will make it uneconomical to do so...try looking for cracks/ separation in the welds in engine bay & around damaged area...

You still need to factor in the actual cost of getting the car...

The last 3 cars my mum's imported have been accident damaged. Mazda Tribute, Mazda SP20, and her new SP20.
I assume it's an import, was it fixed in Japan, or will you buy it damaged?

If it has been de reg'd or written off thru insurance you will have no choice but to fix the rails.

In the event of nuclear catastrophe, the only survivors will be Cockroaches and Toyota K series engines...
