Anyone keen to go up? I am, but well, figuring that it'll be ~$450 each way to drive there, and pretty much the same to fly, I'm a little hesitant, and though that maybe some people here may want to "car-pool" up to it...

just either reply here or pm if interested.

Uuummm no dis-respect fella but if some people were saying they had no money to go to Timmer's and being just after Christmas/New Year's I don't think there will be many people keen if any..
Maybe I could be wrong..

I realise that there may not be too many that are keen, hence why I'm not going as I can't afford it, but figured that given a few of us, we could make it up there fine(gas/4 = not too bad).

it does sound good.

never mind, not going... engine just went "bang"...

I don't know enough about it to try to even describe what went wrong, but it smells electrical(like busted capacitors if anyone has smelled that).

It is running, but until I find out what it was(being checked tomorrow), no big trips are gonna happen, Check engine light is flashing intermittantly(like it wants to flash constantly but has a loose wire).

Go the auto Rav4 for work...

The smell is coming from a scortch mark on the alternator, it is still charging, the light has stopped flashing and the car is going fine.

There is a fried wire that appears to have come lose from somewhere(?), and hit the alternator(hence the scortch marks) and it heads into the firewall, will need to find out where it goes, although it looks to be buggered, and doesn't seem to affect anything.

Not quite sure on how it happened, but the wire appears to be the one for the water temp/radiator fan sensor, currently the fan on the radiator is going hell for leather all the time(not that big of a deal), but if I hookup a wire to replace the scortched one(some of the copper is bubbled, so current must have been high), it goes back to only being on when I abuse the car.

Still getting it checked out properly(auto-electrician mate was busy the other day), just not too sure when.

Wire heads(eventually after doubling back a few times) to the ECU, I'm re-soldering it(new wire) on this arvo.

"it'll be fine" - famous last words.
