Rather dumb idea

Postby Ako » Sat Dec 31, 2005 7:47 am

Ok, I've just gotten another hackmobile to replace the bogan cefiro.

Its a 91 Corolla sedan (The later shape, looks like a slightly smaller camry), 5sp man with a 4AFE in it. Got it for $800 with a new wof + rego, so I'm kinda stoked with the score it is - even has a working CD player. Only reason its cheap is the rough paint (toymota white.... out of a spraycan on one side), otherwise seems mint.

My question - since they're so f-ing cheap, whats the chances of a silvertop 4AGE going in there? Would be good for a laugh and keep me ever so slightly more happy. Failing that, any cheap alternatives?

And no, I'm not going to put the MR2's (yet to be installed) engine in it

Hrmm. Bolt in you say huh...

This could get amusing :D

Think the problem is FINDING a 4agze though, always see people looking for them. Maybe I'll make brick sell his for a 3SGTE or something

Maybe I'll just s/c the n/a motor like on revheads car, that hasn't died after umm.. a lot of thrashing.

bluetops are where its at for a cheap turbo 4age
no mods at all
just get a good runner and turbo or s/c it
there cheap as cheap if you manage to blow one up(quite hard to do)
and there piles of them around

they provide good off boost responce and then just go mental on boost

goo dluck :D
:D

Ahhaah, awesome...

This wee car could be amusing yet.

Not bad for $800 I thought. Its about the same speed as the cefiro was (which was a 2L auto) but if I could get it around a 15 flat - ish it'd be good for a laugh, and then some. Its just my daily so can't (and don't want to) do anything too stupid, but just telling people its supercharged would be funny enough

The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you're willing to work.

Don't be bloody stupid - its a corolla! It will never look good.

Just picked it up, must be NZ new cause its got a 240km/h speedo. Least it has a tacho and 5 speeds so its not mega poverty-pack!

Also sounds funny with no intake pipework. At all (i love map sensor-ed cars). I'm so hardcore racer right now.

No way. Even Revheads s/c redtop aw11 couldn't get out of low 15s.

Has it ever been run on the 1/4? I bet with good driving it could hit 14's. Stock NA bluetop aw11s do mid 16's with good driving

Yes several 15 flats. AFAIK it went to the drags more than a couple of times.

Just done the 4afe to 4age 20v thing.
Installed 20v engine, loom and computer. just needed to add one jumper wire at the computer end of the loom so that the fuel pump would run correctly.
Easy!

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

al, i have no doubt its at least a half second faster now, if not more.
the intake on it when i got it was..... well shocking to be honest. a sharp 90 deg bend: a piece of 3 inch pipe cut at a 45deg angle and welded together, with a tiny K&N filter that was distorting coz of the restriction in it.
then theres the water to air intercooler. and a few other things iv tidied up.

ako: silvertop into that really is very easy
and bluetop turbo would be amusing.
slap it together, use the stock box and go vtak killing
