a mate has a '92 YN81 sigle cab that he wants to do a number to.

what model 4wd guards/bumper/grille etc does he need to fit some big wheels under it??

has any got any contacts for the dropped front spindles? there was a shop in Auckland doing them, but they never returned any e-mails.

there was a guy on trademe selling drop spindles.i bought mine from usa. the 4x4 guards from the same year/shape should fit it. another way insteed of drop spindles, is to put a spacer block under the top ball joint. unbolt the ball joint on thr top swing arm andmove it to ontop and then put a block between it with loner bolts. they sell kits like that in usa for hilux's, instead if drop spindles from about '96 up, but ive compared a 2000 model with my 1988 model andthey both look the same.

when you say spacer, is that a bit like a roll centre adjuster/correcter but on the top mount??

yip. but you only space the top.if you space bottom arm it screws up the steering. by putting the spacer at the top it allows the hub to move up higher(which lowers the ute more), and you dont have to change the bump stops, unless you want to go even lower.
i have dumby fitted my 2" beltech to mine, and 17" wheels just fit, with drop spindles you have to fit bigger wheels.

i am talking about RWD, a RWD '88 looks the same as a RWD 2000 model. i parked mine next to my work one, and compared them torison bars, swing arms all look the same. toyota probaly changed stuff like the tierods and ball joints being different sizes or sumthing, but generally they look the same, same set up.

i quess so, but dont go to thick cause it might cause the hub to swing funny, cause your bringing the arms(at the hub) closer together. make up some dumby blocks and unbolt torsion bar, and fit blocks and swing hub up and down to work out how thick you can go before it swings funny or parts start to bind.
