I looked into importing an old falcon (big) home when I was over there. It was going to be a bit over $1300 landed, including MAF fees, taxes etc. But then you've got re-vinning etc. I cant remember what they were called though sorry, but it was out of sydney, to chch.

To get it in under a Personal Import you need to own it for at least six months was my understanding.

They recently changed all the laws and made it even harder to import into Aus.

O they may have.

You still can, you just miss out on some fees if you have owned the car certain amounts of time.

All in all, aussie is a prick of a place when it comes to cars now

Are you trying to get a cheap commadore?

If so try brisbane.

Just out of interest what are you exporting?

I thought about doing this, as an r32 gts-t skyline sells for $11k+ over there, and about $5-6ish here, same with other turbos aswell.

Not as easy as it sounds though sadly

Yes they do. Good ones are starting to get a bit thin on the ground now.

The Tasman used to be the dearest stretch of water in the world.
We looked at bringing in high K ex Police/company Falcons & Commodores from Melbourne a few years back.
It was touch & go to make it pay then. I'd be surprised if it's got any better since.

A few years back when we took a bugatti over to Italy for a reunion we just talked to the AA and they helped us to sort out everything we needed to do. It might be different in this case but I don't see why. Have a talk to them and see what they say.

If you want to import it into NZ from Auzzie as a 'Personal car' you have to have owned it over there for a certain amount of time, and once it has landed you can't sell it for a period of time eiither.

So there other option is oviously to bring it in for commercial purposes, and I don't know if you need to be a liscenced importer to do that :?:

Best idea would be get into touch with someone who imports cars reguarly (i think the laws are pretty similar no matter where they are coming from) and get the info off them, maybe even see if they can bring it in for you.
