Temp guage

Postby lotstodo » Wed Jan 04, 2006 8:07 pm

Hi everyone. I just took my car from Auckland to Napier, about half way my temp guage started to go nuts... In 4th & 5th with my foot right down the needle goes all the way down to cold and if I take my foot off it goes back to normal??? So what are the likely problems???

Thanks.

Water Pump or Thermostat not opening completely? Check your radiator isnt blocked also.

If it rises past 1/2 way I wouldnt want to be driving it.

Seeing as we are talking thermostats... i drove from Wellington to Taupo... at the most the needle went 1/4 of the way up... then i drove to Parmy from Taupo... and it went up half way. Then on the way home it went less than 1/4 of the way up.... ??? Does anyone know what could be the problem?

that , or the blades on the pump are rooted and cavitating the water, turning it steam.

Really? Repco told me they only sold Tridon - so I had to replace it with a Tridon thermostat. The original one the gave me didnt fit (the book was wrong); so they measured my old one (which was a hard out Thermostat) and gave me the closest match.
