AE101 Corrola FX-GT Manual Electrical question

Postby PreacheR » Mon Jan 09, 2006 6:58 pm

Sorry if this has already been covered.

My Rolla is doing something strange. When shifting my stereo cuts out but only when shifting in into 1st 3rd or 5th and sometimes when passing through the nuetral position. The stereo setup is not fancy. Its a Clarion DXz846mc (parrallel Imports Rock) There is no external amp. There are active cross overs for the front speakers.

Any rock star ideas?

Got any bare wire that may be touching against the shifter at any stage?

Pulled of the shifter cover and couldn't see anything. Is there much wiring beneath the shifter?

possibly someone has run a cable under the 2 shifter cables, when the right one is pulled (1,3,5th) it disconnects the stereo... Probably the earth wire.

if you are able, pull the headunit out and check that all the wires are connected properly and insulated/wripped in wire properly. As above, sounds like a wire is shorting or disconnecting somehow. check where the earth wire is and perhaps reposition it.
