Caldina Boost Guage

Hey there, my mate just bought a Caldina GT-T and wants to put a boost guage on it

ive had a look on the manifold but cant find any siutable places to put the piping, is there anywhere else i can put it?

or do i just drill and tap a hole and put a nozzle in there?

just T into one of the vacuum tubes on the manifold (fuel pressure regulator will be fine as long as it goes on top not on one of the runners like in some cars)

hay thanks have the boost guage working now but i cant find a hole in the firewall to run the piping

could someone here with a caldina please share where they ran theirs

most cars tend to have a rubber bung where the main loom runs through, quite often near the pedal box, or just behind/below the steering wheel

Agreed look just behind the Plenum area about 30cm Down / deep. Your bound to find something there

I ran my boost guage line though where my Accelerater cable goes i think it was.

Have a look there Will be something there.. just grab a screw driver and jam a hole in it.

yea we were just gonna do that but just wanted to ask if there was anywhere else it could go through that was a bit easier

i just ran mine around under the panelling,

I didnt run through the hole in the firewall as thats a hassle. (and I havent fully decided on my permanent layout... so didnt want to waste time before i have)

but that works well for me.

is your mates Caldina a Manual? or a tiptronic which is 2000+ (and a GT-TS)?

if so VSC does not apply

if its one of the tiptronics then it has vsc (possibly has a sticker saying VSC on the back window)


VSC = Vehicle Stability Control

yes its a traction control thing and much much more.

my switch turns it on and off.

I own a gtt caldina and what i did was just put a junction in between one of the map sensor hoses seemed to work fine

Not a good idea. It's best to leave the Map sensor on it's own vacuum circuit and run the gauge off a different port, like the BOV trip line.

its a tiptronic one, and does the switch for VSC come standard? or aftermarket?

the switch for the vsc is definately after market.

took me about 6 months of hard going to work out how to turn it on and off.

in the end the answer was easy though!

I used a brass T into the line going into the bottom right hand corner of the right hand end of the plennum.. Cost about $10 for parts. Can't remember but it ould be the bov line?

depends which way you are looking at the car

blue one = bov line


= where my gauge is connected (not by me, by previous owner)

Where have you guys mounted your boost gauges?

I was thinking the bottom of the A-Pillar as I cant thing of anywhere else suitable. I kinda like not having after-market gauges & stuff stuck to my dash / steering wheel.

If you can wait until tomorrow, I'll go take a photo of where it's mounted in my mates GTT. It almost looks like it was meant to be there from factory. Because I don't have a GTT, I couldn't tell you off the bat exactly where it is, so I'm really not very helpful unless I show you a picture

I'm in no rush - just noticed Repco were selling some cheap 2" gauges & I want a place in mind which I'm happy with before I buy one.
