Damn mates, you know quite a bit about codes!!! There is so much I didn't knew, thanks!!! :) 3 questions: 1)so if I'm reading correctly, if a Trans/Axle says for example: C-56/04C it means it comes factory with LSD?? A friend has a 1995 Levin BZ-G with those specs. 2): that LSD you guys where talking about before, that comes factory in BZ-Rs, is it 2way, 1.5way, 1way... or what?? 3)What does "TRIM" means on the VIN Nº and how do you decode it?? Thanks bros :)

it helps when i work at toyota and have the EPC.

A: then it would appear to have a factory lsd.

B: its none of them, its a torsen type

C: trim is the interior colour/spec. id have to go through the EPC to decode it

Warwick, just another 'you are wrong post':

my 1995 BZG wreck has a LSD manual 5speed gearbox :P
as stated by the build plate with a big fat C on the end
also tested via the burnouts in the garage method

bah ive given them to you ages ago!!
will have a look and get back to you - info is all at home and im not!

but i do remember that it all matched with: http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/toyot ... 95_5/2961/
hence:
E-AE111-ACMZF
and the build plate definitely says C-56(?)/XXC
superstrut model

note that the non SS model says it has no LSD in auto.vl.ru

the facelift BZ-G however is non lsd.

im gunna get my hands on one of these boxes these days and open on up.... iv decieded im unsure if they are helical or viscous type :?

Some correction: BZ-Rs have Torsen LSD.

As far as I could see when I pulled apart m gearbox, the Torsen in BZ-R box is Type 2.

Thats some great information there fella! Nice one!

As there is little info on AE101/111 in the UK i am finding myself reading through NZ forums and are all very useful!

One question though, I have a BZG prefacelift without superstrut or an LSD, but i want to fit an LSD.

Will an LSD out of a 5/6 speed with or without superstrut fit?? Or is the driveshaft splines different??

I know the 6 speed has a different ratio final drive, but its easy enough to swap over a crown wheel (ring gear) so long as the unit will fit in my casing and the driveshafts will work.

Thanks people
