Data logging and controlling your car through a laptop

Postby gordon77 » Mon Jan 16, 2006 12:38 pm

hey ppl my older brother has developed a unit that plugs into the diagnostic plug in his 300zx it controls and logs everything and anything. he can trick the ecu into thinking the engine is at a specified temprature, fuel/air ratio, he can even drop a clynder if he wants - the capability is amazing. this is on the stock ecu 8O

now i was wondering if there are any capability of developing this technology for toyotas? are they able to be controlled like this? if they were would there be any intrest in buying the software and cable?

what do you think?

Funny, I was talking to someone about this on the weekend about toyotas.

Pre '95 mitsis can be datalogged like this as well, its damn near invaluable for tuning with - can't adjust anything, but it lets you watch everything the engine knows. Especially handy for watching knock counts :?

All the software is free online, and its designed to be used with a palm pilot.
