Exhaust - quiet'ening

Postby Santa'sBoostinSleigh » Tue Jan 17, 2006 12:58 pm

well im finally ready to get rid of my POS integra, and am a bit worried that it may get stung on the exhaust bizzo

its a 1.6 SOCH non-vtak so not a hard-core POS, just a general POS.

it has a 2 1/4" exhaust
16" super coby muffler
super-turbo muffler
bling oval tip

anyway what i want to know is if i add a short piece of smaller diameter pipe somewhere in the exhaust, or just cut and weld in a restrictor plate, will this quieten it down?

reason being is i dont want to spend unnecccesary money to fix it cause im selling it, but i dont want it to be super rangi, and also dont want the buiyer to get fines (i am a nice guy :) )

How bigs the tip?

Cutting down the tip size is probably the cheapest and easiest way in queitening it down

Jam a heap of old socks up there!!! It will quiet it down alot and when they start to heat up and melt.... you will have some cool flames coming out your exhaust!!!

Steelo has been a P TOWN favourite for years, suggest its has better longevity than socks but big ups for cracking me up!

What i did with my civic was steelo too. I had a 3 inch RPS on it so i took the removable silencer and welded a piece of thick mesh with large wholes onto the back of the silencer then stuffed steelo in there and it shut that baby right up...
