Not boosting right, engine light on. HELP

Postby GT4PWA » Sun Jan 15, 2006 11:49 pm

need some help with whats happening wit my car. About 2 weeks ago sometimes when the car hits 3k revs you se on my IBC is hitting 10psi the wastegate kicks in but the cars not boosting its accelerating normanally or sometimes starts losing speed.

Then today when trying to fix my boosting problems it ran unlimited boost once cut out at 18psi now the engine light stays on perminatly and to make things wrse the issue above now happens everytime i accelerate past 3k revs, until then it seems to accelerate fine.

Finially to make thigns even worse before all this started happening from about 2 weeks ago sometimes when accelerating the engine sort of cuts out while accelerating.

have you guys got any ideas on what coudl be wrong things i can do to fix and how much?

Sounds like a knock sensor, $50 bucks for the part and fit it yourself.

sounds like you should check your error codes before guessing at what the problem is.

In the Engine bay you find your little diag box and bridge terminals E1 and TE1.

Switch your car 'on' (meaning don't start it.) and look at the Check Engine Light.

Count the flashes and then do a search on the forums for the Toyota Error Codes and it should give you all you need.

Actually here I've done the Search for you:

http://forums.toyspeed.org.nz/viewtopic.php?t=35814&highlight=error+codes

Now when is a MOD going to sticky that thread or move it into FAQ?
This same question pops up so damn much!!!!

sounds the same as what mine is doing.

I get error code 22 52 54

There are lots of sites that have the list of error codes but I cant find what 54 is?

It also cuts at 3k and if you keep it floored the revs drop to idle then it stalls, if you lift off and feather the gas a little it has a bad misfire.
Ive changed the plugs, leads, distributer cap and the coil..

yeah 54 is w/a system error, can be anything from a bad pump to low fluid level or broken float sensor.

22 52 54 are exactly same codes I was getting when I was hitting boost cut on my ST165! I fixed it by winding boost down (~10psi, anything above and I get random boostcuts on high gear low rpm)...
