Anyways I gone pass cops already and none have bothered. Just chuck it in neutral as you go pass em. Unless you lapping you have no reason to stop and go often.
cops have v6's :P (generally)
hopefully they just focus on the excessively loud cars and the dickheads who rev the crap out of every gear every time...

Are you certain about that?
I thought there was a law regarding "excessive accelleration" or something along those lines.

If the officer is measuring in dBA, he or she is using a sound level meter with the A weighted scale applied. This scale compensates for the ear's different sensitivity, at low levels, throughout the frequency range.

As per the Fletcher and Munson curves, the human ear is naturally more sensitive to mid range frequencies at low levels (dB SPL). This flattens out with increased loudness.

A set measuring distance should also be implemented in the testing procedure.

So to summarise, 90dBA from a V8 should have the same perceived loudness as 90dBA from a 1600 straight four.

for sure 90dBa is 90dBA, but a poxy 20v or a vtec will still sound like a piece of poo at 90dBA as opposed to a smoother rumble of a V8.

it's a wee bit like a minor engine miss. on a four banger it will be blatantly obvious, but a the number of cylinders increase, the miss will be less noticeable.
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

Actually there is a law agains excessive acceleration. It's another subjective one. If a cop deems your rate of acceleratoin unecessary he can fine you for it.
