im sure my car would out handle alot of new cars.
sirions, corollas etc

you would be surprised at how well the older celicas/supras can be made to handle with a few suspension mods, but then again im sure that could be said about quite a few other cars.

in saying that, lets say the whenuapai race track i was realing in a non turbo 300zx when the celica supra was stock (2.8l 5mge 96kws at the wheels0, both "racers" were seasoned campainers. yet the lesser powered mk2 supra was catching up.

now that wouldnt be because the mk2 had more power, because im sure the 300zx would have significantly more power.

but the car didnt have to slow down as much for corners, and had alot less body roll due to the firmer shocks and springs fitted to the mk2.

but thanks for thinking about how my car handles :-)

actually I really like them, the only ones I've driven are on 20yr old stock suspension, so it was probably more an (car)age issue than anything else.

I've "friendly raced" one in my car, and we were fine until cornering a little too quickly, me with understeer, him with oversteer, but through tight twisties I could easily pull away.

yes, they can be like whales.
stock 20year old suspension aint good.

good tyres make a huge difference as well

just something i've noticed here... why call it a classic celica club when its only gonna be 70-77 models... why not just make it a TA22 and associated club...

I was keen to meet up with some of the celica owners this weekend but yea can only really do it in hamilton as I have to do some more work the my Ra23.

If anyone is keen on making the trip im sure I could think of some good stuff to do.

And as far as a club goes I would rather focus on the 1970-77 celicas as it would make it a hell of alot easier to do the website. But its still gonna be open forum so everyone is welcome.

celica by itself is too general.
clasiccelica.co.nz is nice, as is classiccelicaclub, although I don't know how you would get around dumbarses typing classicelica(missing a c), I guess you could just register both and put a perminent re-direct on to forward it.

all is just my opinion, I don't own one, wouldn't mind having one, and probably wouldn't join the club anyway(already filled my one slot a week away from wifey, yep, I'm whipped).

The page is looking good, but you so have to put a liftback on there too!!!

I know, I know, I have to send you a cd with all my pix, but I have been super busy the last 2 weeks shooting a short film (for a compitition) staring my RA28 celica!!! Yep, I'm serious, she is all the way through it! And we'll definitely have to post it up on the new site for everyone to watch. (it's only 7min long)
