Its a silver plate, just down from the windscreen inside the engine bay. Look at it and on there somewhere it will say either 4age or 4afe, that will tell you what the engine is.

Sounds like it's probably a 4age if it's called a twincam 16v as a 4afe is usually just called a 16v efi because of the way the head is layed out. 2 cams and 1 cam gear (correct?).

I would think so, althought a 4a-fe is twin cam. Ive herd people say they are not, i spose it depends if you take twin cam to mean cam gear or cam shaft.

Both GE and FE are DOHC / Twin Cam 16 valve and can be referred to as such.

Do you have your car there? If so, when does the redline on the rev-counter start? That will tell us what the motor is, without you even having to open the bonnet.

4AFE may appear not to be DOHC because it only has one cam being driven by the cam belt, as the other one is done by a gear between the two cam shafts.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

the way the cylinder head is layed out in a 4afe is similar as to in most quad cam v6 and v8 engines with 1 external cam gear driving both camshafts, unscrew your oil filler cap and if there is a cog beneath it u've got a 4afe if its a cam u can see its a 4age
