1991 Townace diesel timing belt - help!

Postby pukeoramx » Fri Jan 20, 2006 4:02 pm

Hi, we are working on my friend's 1991 4wd Townace diesel (2 L turbo), and having a bit of a problem.

We have removed the cam timing belt and front pulley, exposing the front of the motor. Having trouble figuring out the timing marks - there are marks there, but can't tell if they are the ones - they're very faint - which are the ones to use. :|

If anyone can offer some advice, we'd really appreciate it :) :)

the pulleys should all have a notch in them that will align to a mark on the backing plate when in position. it's been a while since i've done one, but from memory the crank pulley aligns to a pin, the cam pulley is either straight up or straight down(aligning to crank pulley) injector pump is at 7-8 o'clock.

rotate the crank a few times and ALL the notches will line up with a corresponding mark/pin/etc unless the timing is out or belt is broken
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

f#@k you i won't do what ya tell me
